I can hear again!  Praise God!

A few days ago I was having trouble hearing out of my left ear. I’ve always had perfect hearing so as the problem got worse I became concerned and went to the best ent specialist around. I was hoping  he would find a simple problem with a simple solution. Instead he proceeded to tell me I had a rare case of sudden hearing loss, that there was no known cure and I would likely never hear out of that ear again. I asked; how rare? He said; one  in a thousand  are attacked by this virus that affects the eardrum and he may only see five or six patients a year with this case of sudden hearing loss. He gave me a medicine prescription that he seemed to give little hope for but it was worth a try he said.

The next couple of days my faith was in a collision with facts. The facts were I could not hear anything but ringing in my left ear. When I covered my right ear I could see people talking but I could hear nothing. The Doctor had said; their is no cure for this sudden hearing loss. I began to consider others who had handicaps, especially hearing loss and had a new found compassion for their ailment. I realized I had taken hearing with two ears for granted. I was praying for healing and at the same time coming to a resolve in the Lord that He was Lord no matter what. I had began to consider how this would affect my family, ministry, work and other areas of life. I requested prayer from family and friends.

Then it happened!!!  Faith triumphed over fact!  After a couple of days the hearing started to come back. First a little, then after a couple of more days it was back to about 90% from the 20% when at the doctors office. Now it seems to be at 100% but I will be getting that confirmation at the follow up Doctor visit. It was on Wednesday I requested prayer from Good News Church and by Sunday I was giving a Praise report to Good News Church.

Let me share what I learned from this trial. After sharing my testimony of God restoring my healing a friend joked with me after church and said; “CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?  The phrase now has new meaning. It went from a popular Verizon commercial to a common expression from the Tea Party to the politicians. Now my friend was simply asking could I hear him with the natural ear. This got me thinking about how important it is to hear with a spiritual ear. As important as hearing the things of this earth are, it does not compare to hearing the Word of the Lord. I guess what I’m trying to say is this; my desire to hear from Heaven exceeds my desire to hear on earth but I thank God for both.  :  )

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?…Yes Lord I can!
