Ministries

LIFE Groups Click here for Maps to Locations

Sunday evening “Life Groups” have been meeting in three different locations around Tupelo since mid-May 2008. These groups are designed to increase a person’s sense of belonging by offering a quality small group experience in a home-like setting. Led by trained leaders from Good News Church, the setting is relaxed while being directed toward an objective. The new series of meetings explores Max Lucado’s book  entitled, Facing Your Giants. The groups meet from 6 until 7:30 pm with some extra time for prayer requests as needed. You will find these meetings at the following locations:

  • Doc Kitchens’, 433 N. Church Street, Tupelo
  • Steven Polley’s, 2502 Teakwood Lane, Tupelo Map It
  • Lisa Jones’ @ Youth/Young Adult Center, West side of Good News Campus, Tupelo

For ministry to your entire familiy during the Fellowship Group meetings, we also offer childcare in our nursery in the Youth/Young Adult Center, childrens ministry in the Annex (middle building), and youth meetings in the Youth/Young Adult Center. We simply ask that you pick your children up as promptly as possible at 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday Evening Adult Group

Wednesday evening at 7 pm, Pastor Terry Garrett is teaching a series entitled When Heaven Invades Earth from Pastor Bill Johnson’s book by the same title (Destiny Image Publishers). This 17 chapter series describes itself from the book’s back cover:

“Anyone can walk in the miraculous – even you!  If you’ve ever wanted to live and walk in the supernatural power of God, here’s your chance.

“It is truly possible for human people to walk in the divine, and Christ came to show us the way.  It is by rediscovering our true identity in Him that we can begin to move into the promises of God regarding the miraculous.  Bill Johnson not only teaches the supernatural, he imparts it by changing the way we think.

If you are not walking in the miraculous, you’re living far below your birthright!  By laying a carefully constructed biblical foundation for walking in the supernatural power of God, When Heaven Invades Earth provides all the equipment you need to experience miracles every day.”

“You too can move from an intellectual faith and tap into an abundance of miracle-working authority, unleashing the power of God’s glory.”

Good News Church Bookstore

The Bookstore has been restocked and relocated to better serve you. It is opened 20 minutes before and after the Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services. Watch for sales in the near future (i.e. Christmas) and for the latest books and music (a new assortment of Bibles and books have just arrived). The store manager is Shirley Dayenian and volunteer Melvin Campbell.

Women and Men

The Sunday School in the Annex have been enjoying the series, “Faith and Healing“. Diana Lancaster has been sharing her expertise on how to receive and maintain your healing. So whether you need a healing or not, you’re sure to receive a “faith boost” and be equipped to do the work of the ministry from this teaching. We encourage you to come and bring a friend. The meetings are held in the Annex Building (middle building on campus) from 9:30 – 10:30 am.

Everyone Needs Food

Please remember the church’s food bank. Many people call churchs in the Tupelo area each week with a need for food due to rising unemployment nationwide. We get such calls as well, and your generous donations of non-perishable food items or financial donations help to provide others with the hope they need that others really do care about their difficult situation.

If you would like to help oversee the organization and distribution of these items, please contact either Tommy Hudson or Pastor Terry Garrett in the church office.
